@springhousegardens I’ve had fun this Spring with the window boxes down at the Cottage using some brand new plants as well as some old favorites. I’ve chosen plants in the pink, purple and white family of colors, with a little touch of blue and yellow for accents.
Our boxes receive direct sun from around 9am until 1:30 or 2 and then are shaded the remainder of the day. We change out the well drained potting mix every year, except for the front strip where the Golden Creeping Jenny has been growing for the past few years and we make sure to water regularly since the overhang keeps a lot of the rain from reaching the plants.
A few of the new plants I’m watching are the Fairy Dust Pink Cuphea, the Truffula Pink Gomphrena and the Superbells Holy Smokes. They look so good together right now, but we will see who lasts all the way to the Autumn and who earns a spot right back here next year!
The last pics show all the tags of the plants in the boxes in their relative positions and proximity to each other. The only tags missing are the new Gaillardia that we are trying out from Proven Winners, which is not available this year, and I can’t remember its name, but if it performs well, I’ll give it a good review and hopefully it will be one they add to their line.
Come by and check them out and let us know which of these annuals you’d like to try next year, and we will put them on our growers’ lists of must-haves.
