I headed to the outskirts of Calgary on the weekend to search for Snowy Owls. We had no trouble finding a couple of these beauties, but they were so skittish I had a hard time getting photos. Even at a great distance from the car, they would often fly away if I got the camera out. I don’t like to disturb any species, especially sensitive species like this one from the arctic. I think patience and an incredibly slow approach was needed. This is a heavy crop of one I shot from the car window that seemed to tolerate the distance we were at. Looking forward to trying again next time and working with what I learned.
