~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ #🎄 ~~.
I was SO happy to see traces of natural reef recovery at Lizard Island in the Great Barrier Reef after back-to-back cyclones followed by back-to-back thermal bleaching. FOUR consecutive very stressful years for the coral reef community! But this time I saw the reef timidly gaining back its beautiful colorings. Corals are starting to re-populate the reef, and some were even showing their Christmas like fishy ornaments. Here, three different species of red-n-green coral gobies, one of which was even guarding eggs - a new generation of x-mas “ornaments” ready to pop. Let us rejoice on this positive, even if incipient, recovery trend. Let us take action, today more than ever before, for a more amenable future for coral reefs to thrive once again despite the #Anthropocene.
