I feel like social media paints a very fake picture of people and how they go about their lives. I get a lot of messages from people that follow me and there is a disturbing amount of people that say things like "I wish I could have your following" or "I wish I could take photos like you" or something of the sort. The phrase "I wish I" is pretty inspirational if you think about it, in your wildest dream you could be ______, go to ______, do _____, or be the best at ______ . I think that's great and something that motivates us to do fantastic things. I think the distortion of that phrase is "I wish I could be like you". I am not perfect, you are not perfect, of the 107 Billion people that have lived over the course of human history none of them have been perfect, but there has only been one of you. You are the only person with your exact experience and way of thinking, work with it and make something incredible with what you have. I think wishing to be like other people is a partial tragedy because the person you are could be so much better then the image of the person you think you want to be.
