@imperfectlyperfectcampaign ‘It’s a whole roller coaster of emotions.’ - @kirsty_mckenzie_ .
Actress & Model Kirsty McKenzie couldn’t describe it any more perfectly when talking about getting on board the @imperfectlyperfectcampaign. .
We often forget that when we see people in the public eye and think we know them, we actually don’t. To see somebody we admire or who we may even aspire to be, break down that ideal image of what we think we know & show that they are just like me and you who have struggled with the same issues it’s real, it’s raw and at times confronting.
When people ask why public figures?
I want people to take a second and put some thought in about what it takes for a public figure to get behind a campaign about Mental Health and share their vunerability, their stories in aims to help others when a lot of people already think they know them and have pre-judgement already.
It certainly is a roller coaster of emotions for them, joy of being able to help others, & scary in a sense of what people will think - esp when as I say people think they already know them from their public persona. It takes a lot for which I am truly grateful for each and every one of the public figures for trusting in me and sharing my vision to normalise the conversation around Mental Health, even if it feels scary at times.
Now think if public figures can take that leap of faith in aims to expose their vunerability to the whole world..... YOU have the strength to expose yours and seek help if you need it.
