DIY EOY CLEANSING ACTIVITY 🧹 – essentially a SPOTIFY WRAPPED/FACEBOOK YEAR IN REVIEW, BUT FOR YOUR LIFE: THE UNCENSORED VERSION 🤬
Undoubtedly as every year wraps up, you’ll start to reflect on the highlights, the lowlights and enter the new year with a renewed hope 🎆. Something I feel that could be glossed over quickly though, are the lowlights. I know that 2019 have dealt some of us shit hands – personally for me there’s been everything from losses, rejections, failures to traumatic experiences. It can seem like for every win, there is 100 setbacks.
There’s also something in the air about this need to experience only the positive, and this panic when things go wrong 🤯. The negatives or ‘Ls’ are uncomfortable to sit with, it’s embarrassing, it hurts. Our instinct is to suppress it, justify it, PRETEND IT NEVER HAPPENED, before trying to move on asap – but something I’ve learnt to do this year is to really sit with it.
I must say it’s a very empowering and invigorating to do, and completely personal 📝. STEPS: take time and whether it’s on notes in your phone or on paper – think of all the negative experiences you went through, think of anything ‘bad’ you feel is currently present in your life – write it, read it, feel it, understand it, and then let it pass.
Not all bad thoughts will be gone in the first instance, think of it like mental hygiene, you’re going to have to wash more than just once 🚿. However for every time you do this, your capacity to pick yourself back up, your mental strength, it all only gets easier, better and you realise the ‘bad’, well it wasn’t so bad after all.
If you did take the time to do this and you feel even slightly better – then I’m seriously glad 😊 I hope everyone’s lives is filled with more light than dark, but when it isn’t – slide into my DMs, sharing the lows lessens the burden of it. It’s easier to see the good when you’ve lightened the load of the bad ❤️ In spite of all this though, it has been the most exciting year of my life to date and I do have a renewed hope for 2020 💃🏼 credits to @anna_lebedeva who gave me the experience of an actual magical spiritual cleansing 😘
