Do you ever feel like chasing your dreams is really going much too slow? I watch these little #lithops and somehow they give me a little perspective. For over a month they’ve been working so hard to emerge. Two coming from one. It takes a lot of work to grow. Some plants grow and multiply with such ease and others take so much time and patience. I don’t look down on these little plants because they are so slow. I appreciate the effort and the time. I am a cheerleader for them because I know they are giving their best effort. I know they are working so hard for these small changes. I approach my plants with grace and understanding. I nurture them and care for them and marvel in the tiniest of changes. I don’t expect the lithop to grow and multiply like the nasturtium because they’re so different. I don’t even expect the lithop to perform like other succulents. It’s in a class of its own. With this in mind, why can we be so gentle with the natural world, but impatient with ourselves? The expectations I place on myself are impossible. I expect everything to move so fast and when it doesn’t, I feel like a failure. But watching the lithop reminds me it is not my job to rush God’s plans or purposes. Maybe you’re like a lithop. Maybe you’re like a nasturtium multiplying so fast no one can keep up. If you’re struggling and your growth doesn’t look like the person next to you or the person you see on Instagram, don’t worry. God has set a time and a growth pattern for you. Continue growing and rely on Him to determine the pace.
