Every great thing starts with a story. Here is mine in a nutshell.
My name is Mel. I am based in New York City and I am originally from the Ivory Coast. I am fluent in French and English.
After earning my masters in Marketing and Business Administration, I worked as a luxury beauty marketer for Lancôme make up division. It was all glitz and glam but I felt a bit empty. So I put myself on a mission to discover what it is that set my soul on fire. That’s how I discovered the field of UX Design. Within less than a year, I became a full time UX Designer working in a tech consulting firm in New York City. My clients include Microsoft, DuPont, Coty, Simpson Thatcher, to name a few.
Almost 2 years in, I still love my job and I have no regrets switching careers. So far I have been focusing on UX design (user research, ideation, testing, etc.) but lately, I found myself doing more UI design projects at work and I love it. Most importantly I receive a lot of positive feedback from clients and co-workers. So it makes me want to keep doing it and get better at it.
So once again, I am putting myself on a mission to become a beast. This time, to sharpen my UI skills and share my journey with anyone interested! So for that, I have created this account @uimel__ and uimel.com. Feel free to follow my Instagram or visit my blog.
Before I get carried away and write a novel let me stop right here. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me in the comments section below and I will make sure to answer.
